It premiered to a rapt audience at the Berlin Film Festival in February and now the UK will have the opportunity to see an intimate and revealing film focusing on the musical legend that is Robert Nestor Marley.

The Last King of Scotland director Kevin MacDonald has compiled live performances, interviews and rare documentary footage of the late great reggae star that put Island Records music label on the musical map.

MARLEY the film is an intimate, human portrait of the legendary singer. But as with any film about an artist - the main purpose has got to be to send the listener back to the music with a renewed appreciation for its beauty and significance. That's why I am so happy that Island are releasing this special collection of songs from and inspired by the movie.

Island are releasing the soundtrack on April 26, with a first time exclusive of the 1978 One Love Peace concert performance of ‘Jammin’. It was during this performance that Marley helped restore peace by joining the hands of bitter political rivals Michael Manley and Edward Seaga.

One of the first icons to launch Jamaica into the international music scene, Bob Marley and the Wailers sang songs that gave people an insight into the poverty and spitirtuality of Jamaica.

Until his death at the age of 36 in 1981 Marley was creating universal anthems that are celebrated still today.
